The big question: How much longer??
Here I am at 36 weeks. I've been counting down for weeks now, but I guess now I'm REALLY counting down! I feel so ready to have the baby, but I know it could be anywhere from a few days to 4 weeks or more from now.
Sherry came yesterday for the home visit, and everything went well. My b/p was lower (118/82); thanks for all your prayers! Keep 'em coming! :) Baby's position is still great. Sherry could feel the head really well, as could I when she was pushing on it! Jim missed this appointment, but my mom was here, along with Sam, so it was neat to have them both get to be in on it. Baby's heartbeat was in the mid-high 130s. My results from the Group B strep test were negative, praise the Lord! My weight was up another couple pounds, so about 34 lbs. total.
Lately I've been daydreaming about my regular summer clothes . . . I can't wait to fit back into them! I hope it won't take too long to fit back into my regular capris. :)
ETA: I just thought of a good question of the week! I'd love to hear your guesses as to 3 things: Date I will have the baby, baby's gender, and baby's weight/length. I can't promise a prize to the person with the closest guess, but it will be fun to see if anyone does come close. Guess away!!

Zan, yep, I figured it would take longer to fit into my old clothes the second time around . . . but hopefully not TOO much longer! We'll see. I've been thinking about the double stroller thing . . . but I think I may just put Sam in the jogger and the baby into the Snugli and go for walks that way (when the baby's big enough).
Yes, I was very thankful that the strep test was negative. Yay!
I'm planning to enjoy my last days/weeks of sleep to the fullest. :) That's the one part of having a newborn that I'm not looking forward to . . . but I'm praying that this one isn't quite as hungry at night as Sam was!!
Hi Carrie--
Is this where I put my "guesses"? Gotta be May 5th! It just makes sense (March 5th, April 5th, MAY 5th). And I will guess a girl and 7 pounds even, length, let's see, 20 inches sounds good :O)
love you!
Anne
Carrie,
You look great pregant! I don't think I've talked to you since your sister's graduation. I don't know if you remember me, but I was your freshman roomate the year you and Rachel roomed together. I'll be praying for you as you get ready to have the baby :)
I have two children and a third on the way. They are such a wonderful blessing.
Hi Carrie, Just wanted to say I hope everything goes well and that you have the baby soon. My sister did a home birth in Nov. and loved it.
Also I wanted to say that Hailey was a much better sleeper than Ethan, God truly only gives us what we can handle (I didn't know how I'd do it if she was up at night as much as he was).
Yay, on your BP being down and the Group B being negative.
Anne--thanks for your guesses! I hope some more people will add theirs, as well. :) It will be fun to see if you're close! Yes, May 5th would make sense . . . but I have to say I wouldn't mind it being earlier!
Tracy--thanks for your prayers! It was so nice to hear from you. I'm so happy you and your family are doing well. :)
Elisha--thanks so much for the reminder that God only gives us what we can handle! :) I'm definitely praying for a good sleeper this time around!! I'm really looking forward to giving birth at home; I've heard nothing but good stories from those I've talked to who have done it. I actually have the same midwife that your SIL Kim had for her second . . . didn't find that out till after I'd already started going to her, but I thought that was cool! I've since talked to 2 other ladies who have had her, as well, and they both enjoyed their experience w/her and the births.
I'm getting very excited, knowing it could happen soon!!
My guess for a date is May 2; since Sam was born on one cousin's birthday, it stands to reason the new baby will come on another cousin's birthday! My guess is a girl, 7.5 lbs. and 20.5" long. It will be fun to see who comes the closest!
Statistically thinking here....a boy. 6.5 pounds 20 inches long
Wishfully thinking...a girl
As for getting back into your old clothes...I found the weight seemed to disappear quicker each time. Maybe because chasing after two or three kids is more work than taking care of one! Also this last time, I drank tons of water day and night and lost the weight really, really quickly. (I'm talking 20 pounds in the first 8 days!) Even now, if I drink tons of water - consistently, not just one day, or even two - after a few days, I'll start to notice my clothes hang a little better. By tons of water, I mean around one and a half to twice as much as what you'd normally drink. I also cut out chocolate and eat a little less bread, but the same and sometimes more of everything else.
For the sleep...#2 was a lot worse than #1 ever was! Still have trouble getting him to sleep through consistently. He did last night, but hasn't been doing too well lately. Then #3 was better at sleeping than either of the others. It took me a couple of months to adjust to and catch up on the lack of sleep when #3 was born. It also took that long to get them all into the same routine and now they all take their naps at the same time each day - giving me time to rest too if I need it. I had to wake the baby and keep him awake and do things like that until we had a routine that fit them all, but it was worth losing a little rest and peace (at first) and now they all sleep well. #2 is starting to want to stay up a little longer before going down for his afternoon nap, like #1 does, but that's not been a problem because that is meant to be quiet time to sit and watch trains or draw or something like that. It will be interesting to see how similar or different your two are! Enjoy these last days with Sam as your "baby", he'll suddenly become a big, big boy when the baby comes!
